Job Description

Sets up and operates primarily NC and CNC machines to machine parts applying knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics and machinability of materials. Understands blueprints, sketches, drawings and specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements. Loads control media such as tape, card or disk in machine or enters the commands to retrieve preprogrammed instructions from database. Programs NC and CNC machines as required to produce parts conforming to specifications. Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, etc. and enters commands to retrieve, input or edit computerized machine control media. Aligns and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments and materials on machines. Shall be required to operate multiple machines as assigned. Is capable of setting up and operating manual machines as assigned. Inspects finished work piece for conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments.

Job Requirements

High school education plus one year general machine shop experience and/or one year vocational machine shop school. While performing job duties, the employee is required to stand and walk, see, hear and talk, grasp and reach, lift and move up to 40lbs. Aligns and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools and parts to machines. Calculates and sets controls to regulate machine factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow and depth and angle of cut. Shall be required to operate multiple machines as assigned. Inspects finished work piece for conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments.

Job Requirements

High school education. Has a mechanical aptitude. While performing job duties, the employee is required to stand and walk, see, hear and talk, grasp and reach, lift and move up to 40lbs.
